Mission accomplie.
En 1988, nous nous sommes fixé comme objectif de sortir tous les enregistrements studio disponibles de Father Of Bluegrass, Bill Monroe. Environ 20 ans et 5 coffrets plus tard, c'est fait ! Quand nous avons commencé le projet, Bill Monroe était encore en vie, et Bluegrass était un genre musical pour les groupes marginaux. Entre-temps, Bill Monroe est décédé, mais Bluegrass s'est lancé dans une volée de fantaisie. Même'Billboard', le principal organe de l'industrie de la musique, a introduit des listes indépendantes de succès bluegrass. Et la musique country bluegrass/ancienne était au centre de la bande sonore de l'un des films hollywoodiens les plus réussis de ces derniers temps,'O Brother'.

Notre actuel - maintenant le dernier - Bill Monroe-Box a pour thème les dernières années de ce grand artiste et homme. Bien qu'il n'ait plus rien à prouver, il a continué à faire d'excellents disques : Parce qu'il le voulait tout simplement et parce qu'il y avait d'innombrables admirateurs qui ne souhaitaient rien de plus que d'enregistrer de la musique avec Bill Monroe. Par conséquent, cette boîte contient également des contributions vocales avec des invités comme Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, John Hartford, Emmylou Harris, les Oak Ridge Boys, Barbara Mandrell et même Johnny Cash - et bien sûr des stars du Bluegrass comme Osbornes, Ralph Stanley, Del McCoury, Jim & Jesse, Mac Wiseman, les Country Gentlemen, Carl Story et The Seldom Scene.

Les premiers enregistrements de Bill Monroe étaient une musique puissante, rebelle, voire révolutionnaire. Nous présentons maintenant le travail d'un homme âgé et sage - un homme qui avait toutes les raisons d'être fier de tant de choses !
