1 LP vinyle (25cm) avec CD bonus et livret de 16 pages. 13 titres (LP), 34 titres (CD). Durée totale de lecture d’environ 28 min. (LP), 79 min. (CD). Édition deluxe limitée, pressé sur vinyl orange avec une carte postale photo.

L'obscur label Felsted, fondé en 1954 au Royaume-Uni et trois ans plus tard aux États-Unis, était surtout connu pour ses enregistrements de pop et de crooners.
Mais Felsted a sorti un nombre considérable de grands rockers.
Bear Family Records® est le premier label à faire un effort pour détailler l'histoire du rockabilly et du rock 'n' roll des années 1950 et du début des années 1960 sur Felsted, un mélange de rockabilly, rock 'n' roll, rockers doo-wop et d'instrumentaux rockin' !
Vous y trouverez les très rare singles de Vince Maloy avec la vraie version de 'Soda Pop' (sur Felsted),, LaVern Stovall et Frank and, Jack and The Nightwinds.
Trois titres sont disponibles en LP pour la première fois !
Le CD est accompagné de 21( !) titres bonus, dont huit sont sur CD pour la première fois.
Comme toujours, Bill Dahl a rassemblé de nombreuses informations de fond pour le livret.

Felsted Records n'était pas un label de rock and roll comme les autres. Il s'agissait d'une filiale du logo London, lui-même issu du label britannique Decca fondé en 1929. Felsted a été lancé au Royaume-Uni en 1954 et aux États-Unis à la fin de 1957. L'Américain Felsted s'est concentré sur la conquête d'un public pop plus jeune que celui de sa maison mère, en utilisant principalement des licences sur les masters plutôt qu'en produisant les siens.

Une grande partie de sa production était un rock and roll passionnant qui, pour la plupart, ne s'est pas vendu très bien, malgré un certain enthousiasme. Cette collection fascinante contient plus que sa part de rockers flamboyants de Vince Maloy, Andy Anderson, Ritchie Hart, Charlie Gracie, Bobby Russell, Myron Lee and The Caddies, Bill Taylor, The Jiv-A-Tones, The Casualteens, The Spacemen, et bien d'autres, jetant une lumière nouvelle et bienvenue sur un label vintage négligé par les rééditeurs depuis trop longtemps.

The sound is nice and raw – much more like some Memphis indie than you'd guess from Felsted!!

A totally wonderful package, and one that offers a deep dip into the surprisingly strong rock and roll side of the Felsted label! Felsted is best known as the home to pop hits, jazz artists, and easy listening records – but the company also managed to record some killer singles in the early years of rock and roll – most of which we'd never heard before this fantastic set! The package is as cool as the music itself – a perfect presentation of raw rockers that has 13 tracks on a 10" vinyl release, and a whopping 34 titles on the CD that's included in the package – along with a full color booklet of label scans and notes on the music! The sound is nice and raw – much more like some Memphis indie than you'd guess from Felsted – and the set includes work by The Five Fleets, DC Washington, David Orrell, The Admiral Tones, Charlie Gracie, The Roosters, LaVern STovall, Mickey Michaels, Vince Maloy, and many others.
