Les Platters ont vendu plus de disques, se sont produits dans plus de salles et ont joué dans plus de films que n'importe quel autre groupe de chanteurs de leur époque.Ils possédaient vraiment ce petit quelque chose en plus.Dès 1962, ils ont réussi à placer le nombre étonnant de 35 chansons dans les hit-parades pop américains.Tony Williams, leur chanteur principal, a influencé toute la génération suivante de chanteurs, qu'ils soient noirs ou blancs.

Ces enregistrements des Platters comptent parmi les plus grands héritages de la musique afro-américaine.
