Avec 85 titres, cette collection exceptionnelle comprend les cinq albums du légendaire chanteur, acclamés par la critique et publiés par Warner Brothers entre 1972 et 1977.

Quatre des albums sont enrichis de 24 titres bonus, dont des éditions de singles et des raretés.

Il y a également 16 titres bonus supplémentaires, inclus pour la première fois sur un disque de compilation, qui contiennent tous des enregistrements qu'elle a faits avec divers producteurs en dehors des albums en 1973 et 1974. You Are A Song porte le nom d'un des sept titres des sessions avec le producteur Tony Camillo et marque la première sortie officielle d'un CD de Warner Music Group. On y trouve également une version étendue inédite de "We Need To Go Back", produite par Ashford & Simpson.

Sure Thing comprend les nombreux enregistrements de Dionne pour Warner Brothers, servant de pont, souvent négligé mais musicalement satisfaisant, entre son étonnante décennie de succès classiques avec Scepter Records dans les années 60 et les plus de 20 ans couverts par "Déjà Vu : The Arista Recordings", un coffret de 12 CD édité par SoulMusic Records.

Parmi les titres phares, citons "Then Came You", le duo de Dionne avec The Spinners qui s'est hissé au sommet des hit-parades en 1974, et "Just As Long As We Have Love", la face B du single le plus populaire ; "You're Gonna Need Me" du LP produit par Holland-Dozier-Holland, "Just Being Myself" samplé par Usher sur "Throwback" en 2004, un rare mix disco spécial 12" de "Once You Hit The Road" produit par Thom Bell, et le rare groove favori "Move Me No Mountain" de l'enregistrement de Dionne avec Jerry Ragovoy.

Assemblé et coproduit pour SoulMusic Records par le fondateur du label David Nathan et Joe Marchese de The Second Disc, ce coffret magnifiquement conçu comprend les notes de pochette exhaustives de Marcheses sur l'ensemble de la carrière avec des citations d'interviews inédites de Dionne, Burt Bacharach, Thom Bell et Brian Holland ; une sessionographie en cours ; une superbe illustration de John Sellards (y compris la pochette de 'You Are The Song') et un excellent mastering par Nick Robbins à partir de sources numériques fournies par Warner Brothers.

Geboren am 12. 12. 1940 als Marie Dionne Warrick in East Orange, New Jersey (USA). Sang schon als Kind mit der Gospelgruppe The Drinkards, studierte später am Hart College Offviusic in Hartford, Connecticut. Formierte das Trio The Gospelaires mit ihrer Schwester Dee Dee und ihrer Tante Cissy Houston (geb. Emily Drinkard und Mutter von Whitney Houston). Dionne Warwick und Dee Dee arbeiteten auch als Backing-Sängerinnen in New York für die Drifters, die Shirelles und Chuck Jackson. Komponist Burt Bacharach und sein Texter Hal David wurden auf Dionne aufmerksam.

1962 erhielten alle drei einen Kooperationsvertrag beim Scepter-Label. Zwei Jahre später wurde Bacharach Warwicks Manager und musikalischer Direktor, ihr Repertoire bestand fast ausschließlich aus Bacharach - David-Songs. Von 1962 bis 1987 legte Warwick in den USA eine Hit-Strecke von 57 Titeln hin- ihre erste Nr. 1 ( - 'Then Came You', mit den Spinners) ließ allerdings bis 1974 auf sich warten, der zweite (und bis dato letzte) Spitzenreiter folgte erst 13 Jahre später, 'That's What Friends Are For'. Ihre erfolgreichste Filmmusik war das Titellied zu 'Valley Of The Dolls' (1968).

1974 wechselte Warwick zu Warner Brothers, hängte ihrem Nachnamen ein 'e' an, um dies schon im Jahr darauf wieder rückgängig zu machen. Für ihre vielfältigen Aktivitäten auf dem karitativen Sektor erhielt Dionne Warwick diverse Auszeichnungen.

'Slaves' ('Sklaven', USA, 1969),
“Rent-A-Cop' (dto., USA, 1986),
'Extralarge: Black Magic' ('Zwei Supertypen in Miami - Extralarge gegen Tod und Teufel', USA, 1991).

TV-Serien: unter anderem 'Detektiv Rockford' (1972) und 'Mike Hammer' (1986).
