Pianiste, chef d'orchestre, compositeur et arrangeur anglais (en plus d'être comédien et acteur à la radio), Ray Noble a connu un succès énorme et soutenu en dirigeant son orchestre dans les années 1930 et 1940, période durant laquelle il a fourni une plate-forme pour la carrière du populaire crooner Al BowIly. 

Il était le phénomène rare d'un artiste britannique qui s'est installé aux Etats-Unis et y est devenu aussi populaire que dans son pays natal, accumulant une telle série de hits crédités d'une position dans le Top 20 qu'il y en avait trop pour pouvoir les inclure tous sur cet excellent set de 46 titres en 2 CD. 

Chaque enregistrement de cette collection est crédité dans le livre "Joel Whitburn's Pop Memories" d'avoir atteint la position 18 ou plus aux Etats-Unis selon les données disponibles. Enregistré d'abord comme orchestre de studio pour HMV sous le nom de The London Mayfair Dance Orchestra, il est devenu le New Mayfair Dance Orchestra, puis Ray Noble & His Orchestra, il a connu des succès remarquables jusqu'à la fin des années 1940. 

En plus d'Al BowIly, ses disques mettent en vedette des chanteurs de renom, dont Howard Philips, Tony Martin, Snooky Lanson, Larry Stewart et Buddy Clark. Parmi les grands succès, citons les numéros 1 "Love Is The Sweetest Thing", "The Very Thought Of You", "Isle Of Capri", "Let's Swing It", "Paris In The Spring-" et "Linda", et c'est la fête des nostalgiques !
