Méticuleusement maîtrisé à partir des bandes originales analogiques et des acétates, l'ensemble est produit en mono glorieux, y compris des mélanges mono inédits. Ensemble, les disques et les notes constituent un portail vers l'époque où un single de trois minutes pouvait changer le monde, ne serait-ce que temporairement. Faites un pas en arrière dans le temps et redécouvrez le groupe qui a lancé le premier label de réédition de Coxsackie (et le premier label mondial) ! Les frères Beau et John Charles, de Bergenfield, NJ, ont formé The Knickerbockers en 1962. Tirant son nom de Knickerbocker Road à Tenafly, NJ, le groupe est passé par plusieurs lineups jusqu'à l'arrivée du vocaliste/saxophoniste Randell en 1964. Avec le batteur Jimmy Walker, voici l'auteur-compositeur-interprète Jerry Fuller ('Travelin' Man,''Young Girl,''Lady Willpower') capturé à Albany, NY nightspot, l'University Twist Palace. Fuller les a signés au label indie Challenge de Los Angeles et ils ont enregistré trois albums pour le label, pleins de classiques autographes ainsi que des pochettes soigneusement sélectionnées. "The Knickerbockers"

Les Knickerbockers se sont formés en 1964 sous le nom de Castle Kings. Le groupe - Buddy Randell des Royal Teens (il a co-écrit'Short Shorts'), voix et saxophone ; Jimmy Walker, batterie et voix ; John Charles, basse ; et son frère Beau, guitare - a pris leur nom de Knickerbocker Avenue dans leur ville natale de Bergenfield, New Jersey. Découverts par Jerry Fuller, chanteur à succès modéré et écrivain à succès (" Travelin' Man ", " Young World ", " Over You " et " Young Girl ") et producteur (Union Gap et Ricky Nelson), ils ont été engagés par Challenge en 1965. Ils ont rapidement montré leur talent de mimétisme lorsque leur pastiche des Beatles,'Lies', est entré dans le Top Twenty à l'hiver 1965. La production par Ful-ler de la Randell-B. La composition de Charles était parfaite, ressemblant plus aux Beatles qu'aux Beatles.

Un autre titre,'One Track Mind', fait partie du Top Fifty en 1966, mais l'échec s'installe et le groupe se dissout. Jimmy Walker a brièvement " remplacé " Bill Medley dans les Righteous Brothers avant de tenter une carrière solo à Columbia et Buddy Randell a essayé la même chose à Uni puis à Paramount. Cutts Knight, d'ascendance mixte noire et indienne, est né à Fort Scott, au Kansas, en 1945. Il s'installe à New York en 1961 où ses propres disques sur plusieurs labels (Gulf, Shell, R.S.V.P.) ont depuis été éclipsés par une association avec Jimi Hendrix. La'bio-graphie intime' de Jimit Knight de Hendrix a été publiée en 1974, mais n'a pas été bien reçue par la critique ou les fans. Le meilleur disque solo de Knight est `That's Why' sur Gulf, qui a bouillonné sous le Hot Hun-dred en 1961. Jimi Hendrix a joué et chanté sur des morceaux de Curtis Knight and the Squires réalisés en 1965 pour R.S.V.P.
