Clarence 'Frogman' Henry has always been a favorite of New Orleans R & B collectors and unlike many of the artists who emanated from did city's vibrant and unique music scene, Clarence managed to break out of Louisiana and score a significant number of pop crossover hits. Today at the age of 79, Clarence lives comfortably in New Orleans performing on occasion Benthic, usually at the annual New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival secure in the knowledge the body of work featured on this CD is amongst the greatest to come out of New Orleans.

Clarence'Frogman' Henry wurde am 19. März 1937 in Algier, New Orleans, geboren, und nachdem er sich in der High School mit Musik beschäftigt hatte, wurde er 1957 zum Nachtstar, als seine Neuheit Rock'n'Roll Nummer,'Aint Got No Home' (wo er Froschgeräusche nachahmte), ein Hit Nr. 30 auf Argo war.

Eine Weile sah es so aus, als wäre er ein One-Hit-Wunder, aber 1961 kam er mit Bobby Charles' Komposition But I Do' wieder zurück, einem zwanghaften Stück New Orleans R&B von Paul Gayten und Allen Toussaint, das Platz 4 der Charts erreichte. Er konsolidierte diesen Erfolg mit einer Reihe von kleinen Hits in den frühen 60er Jahren und ist heute einer der wenigen Künstler, der noch immer "Oldies but Goodies" R&B in den Clubs von New Orleans anbiete
