"Graham Bond Organisation"

Graham Bond a été élu l'un des plus grands espoirs du jazz britannique au début des années 60 alors qu'il passait ses journées dans un bureau de vente et ses soirées à jouer du sax alto d'inspiration Eric Dolphy avec le groupe de jazz Don Rendell. Bond quitte le groupe de Rendell pour rejoindre Blues Incorporated à la place de Cyril Davies en novembre 1962. Bien quengagé comme saxophoniste alto, il s'intéresse de plus en plus à l'orgue électrique et démissionne en février 1963 avec Jack Bruce et Ginger Baker pour former son propre trio, auquel s'ajoute le guitariste John McLaughlin (remplacé six mois plus tard par le saxophoniste Dick Heckstall-Smith).

La formation Graham Bond Or-ganization a survécu au départ de Bruce et Baker (remplacé à la batterie par Jon Hiseman), mais son blues jazzy et agressif n'a jamais eu beaucoup de succès, et Bond est parti en Amérique après la rupture finale du groupe. A son retour, dix-huit mois plus tard, il s'implique dans une longue série de groupes avorteurs, dont Ginger Baker's Airforce, son propre Magick et un groupe avec le poète-lyricien Pete Brown qui se termine avec sa mort en 1974.
