 A wonderful collaboration between country singer Gail Davies and jazz legend Benny Golson. It demonstrates that there are really only two kinds of music - good and bad.
 Benny Golson, who is a long time friend of Miss Davies and a fan of country music, is one of the original architects of American jazz. He is the recipient of the Mellon Living Legend Award,
 the NEA Jazz Masters Award and the Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as a member of the Jazz Hall of Fame.

geb. 4. 4. 1948 in Broken Bow - Oklahoma Record Labels: Lifesong, Warner Brothers, RCA Erster Hit: No Love Have I (1978) Erster Top Ten Hit: Blue Heartache (1980) Patricia Gail Dickerson wuchs mit Country Music auf. Ihr Stiefvater, dessen Nachname Davies sie später annahm, spielte oft die Platten von Hank Williams, Webb Pierce, Patsy Cline und Carl Smith. Gail Davies wollte Sängerin werden, doch zunächst musste sie sich mit der Funktion einer Backup-Sängerin begnügen.

Sie sang in Clubs und bei Contests, ihr Stimme wurde besser und sie kam in Kontakt mit Leuten wie Hoyt Axton, Roger Miller und Paul WilIiams. An der Westküste meinte man, ihre Stimme sei zu „country“ für die L.A. Szene. Sie müsste nach Nashville gehen und dies tat sie dann auch, nur, in Nashville stellte man lakonisch fest, ihre Stimme sei nicht genug Country“. Das war 1975.

Zurück in Los Angeles heiratete Gail Davies 1978 den Komponisten Richard Allen, der mit Hilfe seines Verlags in Nashville Gail Davies mit Tommy West von CBS bekannt machte. Und so kam Gail Davies zu ihrem ersten Schallplattenvertrag mit Lifesong - Epic. Der Erfolg stellte sich rasch ein und hielt auch einige Jahre an. Inzwischen ist es allerdings wieder recht ruhig um Gail Davies geworden.
