Der alte Bramhall hat Originale nicht Ton-für-Ton kopiert, sondern ihnen seinen ganz eigenen Stempel aufgedrückt. Und deshalb klingt diese CD trotz Coverversionen und unterschiedlichster Besetzungen wie aus einem Guss. Dazu funktioniert die Vater/Sohn-Beziehung ausgezeichnet und der kleine Bramhall steuert Spannendes bei. Auch hier ist wieder deutlich zu hören, von wem SRV seine Art zu singen gelernt hat. Vielleicht nicht ganz so überrascht wie das alte Album auf Antone's, doch sicherlich eine sehr gute CD von einem der großen Texaner / Stevie Ray Vaughan's songwriting partner, drummer and vocalist extraordinaire has done it again! His long-awaited second album is a good one, even if most of the recordings are cover versions of well-known blues and r&b tunes. But he does them his own way. No one-to-one copying. Then you'll get the father & son collaboration that really works well. Great musicianship throughout. Doyle Bramhall is the man who taught Stevie Ray how to sing the blues. Also, he has co-written many of Stevie's classics. And he's a fine drummer. Highly recommended new set from this great Texan.
